Our client, a leading waste industry company, is looking for a Head of IT to join their team in Portsmouth. This role offers a salary range of £80,000 – £100,000 plus car allowance (DOE), and a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT strategy to support business growth and operations
• Advise the leadership team on practical, commercially‑minded IT solutions
• Manage and develop a small IT team
• Oversee IT infrastructure, systems, websites, apps, integrations, and migrations
• Plan and deliver IT projects and system upgrades
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes
• Maintain IT security, data protection, and compliance
• Manage IT budgets and related financial planning
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders
• Represent the business positively, demonstrating leadership and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical‑related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
• Evidence of professional development, relevant certifications, or BCS membership
• Proven experience in a leadership role
• Experience in building and managing IT budgets
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, and data protection
• Skilled in managing complex projects, system upgrades, CRM migrations, and integrations
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long‑term vision and immediate priorities
• Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively
• Collaborative, adaptable, and solutions‑focused

Additional Information

• Hybrid working – flexible, with approximately three days on site
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including early and late shifts, as required by the nature of the business and the role
