Overview

We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Manager to take ownership of the IT Infrastructure team and provide a key business function within Premier League Studios. This role will serve as the key IT systems owner and trusted advisor, ensuring that the IT Systems and team effectively supports business workflows, both corporate, broadcast and production. An organised and engageable individual, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams to provide IT infrastructure that will support a 7 day a week operation. You core hours will be 9-5pm Mon – Fri and your team will operate an on call model for out of hours support.

As our IT Infrastructure Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing all aspects of the business with an applicable, supportable and robust IT Infrastructure. The IT systems should enable all of our teams to work smarter and more efficiently in a creative, fast‑moving media environment. The role

  • Team leadership: Manage and lead a team of IT professionals, including network, security, Cloud (Azure & AWS), Microsoft systems and Infrastructure specialists. This involves setting goals, providing guidance, and fostering professional development.
  • Managing IT systems for a Broadcast and TV production facility: Manage and maintain critical real‑time systems, collaborate and work alongside the specialised engineering teams, manage and monitor real‑time SMPTE 2110 flows, business‑critical control systems and associated workflows. Manage and maintain the Media Asset Management platform and associated file delivery systems.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and execute strategies to align IT infrastructure with business objectives. This involves forecasting future needs, planning for scalability, and integrating new technologies.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect the organization’s IT environment from threats. This includes administering firewalls, managing access controls, and ensuring data security.
  • Disaster recovery planning: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. This ensures that the organization can quickly recover from unexpected outages or data loss.
  • System maintenance and monitoring: Ensure that all IT infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, Wi‑Fi, security and cloud services are operating efficiently. This includes regular monitoring, performance tuning, and implementing necessary updates or patches.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors to procure hardware, software, and services. This includes negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that products meet organisational standards.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the IT infrastructure budget, making decisions on investments in new technologies and managing ongoing operational costs. Ensure that the IT infrastructure is not only operational but also strategically positioned to support the organization’s goal.

Requirements for the role

  • Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure components, as well as understanding of virtualization, Database Management, and operating systems is also critical.
  • Previous experience leading a team of IT professionals in a fast paced 16/7 Broadcast facility with a high SLA. Understanding the systems and processes associated with TV production, broadcast and distribution.
  • The ability to plan, execute, and oversee infrastructure projects from start to finish. This includes setting timelines, managing resources, and ensuring projects are completed within budget.
  • The capacity to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. This skill is vital for maintaining system uptime and ensuring business continuity.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and manage a diverse team of IT professionals. This includes mentoring, Performance Management, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • The ability to clearly communicate technical information to both IT and non‑IT stakeholders. This is crucial for aligning infrastructure initiatives with business goals and for Vendor Management.
  • A forward‑thinking approach to anticipate future infrastructure needs and plan accordingly. This involves staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices. This includes knowledge of Threat Management, compliance requirements, and best practices for securing IT environments.
  • The ability to manage budgets effectively, ensuring cost‑efficient infrastructure investments while meeting the organization’s needs.
  • Experience in managing relationships with vendors, including negotiating contracts, evaluating products, and ensuring service levels meet organisational standards.
  • The capability to quickly adapt to changing technologies and business environments. An IT Infrastructure Manager must be flexible and open to new approaches to solve challenges.
