Kingston GP Chambers are supporting the Surbiton and Chessington Primary Care Network (PCN) with their recruitment for a Safeguarding Lead. The PCNs include Surbiton Health Centre PCN and Chessington & Surbiton PCN, working together through a limited company with a joint Board: Surbiton & Chessington PCNs Limited. The networks serve a diverse community of approximately 66,000 residents, including commuter areas, young families, deprived pockets, and frail elderly/care homes.
The vision of the PCNs is to maintain and improve health and healthcare for local populations and ensure the sustainability of member GP practices, aligned with NHS strategies. The Safeguarding Lead will oversee safeguarding practice quality, support clinical practitioners, and facilitate information exchange between safeguarding partners within the legal framework, supporting the strategic direction of the organisation.
This position offers flexibility, being available as either full-time or part-time depending on the candidate's availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Record, action, and follow up on safeguarding caseloads, informing relevant GP practices.
- Complete safeguarding reports promptly, such as information requests from local authorities or agencies like MARAC.
- Attend meetings related to caseloads, including child case conferences and strategy meetings.
- Collaborate with clinicians and service users to ensure actions are followed up, evaluated, and coordinated according to patient needs.
- Maintain communication with professionals in relevant organisations, such as hospitals, health visitors, and children’s services.
- Serve as the first point of contact for service users, patients, and families as appropriate.
- Make referrals to other professionals or agencies when beneficial.
We seek a motivated, dynamic, and forward-thinking practitioner with expertise in safeguarding, capable of working autonomously, reliably, and flexibly. A strong knowledge of legislation supporting safeguarding children and adults, report writing, audit, supervision, and teaching experience are essential.
