As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the engineering strategy across self-serve web and app journeys, helping 1.1 million B2B customers manage their services seamlessly. You will define and drive a transformation roadmap that enhances our digital platforms, exploits technologies like React, Flutter on platforms like AWS, and improves how we deliver management, user access management (UAM), whilst ensuring we have a solid application support service to maintain these capabilities in life.

Your leadership of a team (circa 100 engineers) will ensure our digital experiences are secure, intuitive, and constantly evolving to meet user expectations.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Set the technical vision & engineering strategy for self-serve journeys in web & mobile platforms.
  2. Build diverse, high-performing engineering teams across the UK and India, cultivating a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration.
  3. Architect and drive the transition to cloud-, event-driven, microservices-based architectures (AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka).
  4. Embed world-class observability, resilience, and reliability practices, leveraging platforms like ServiceNow, Dynatrace, and PagerDuty.
  5. Champion security-by-design, & access management (IAM/UAM) & Zero Trust Architectures.
  6. Lead backend modernisation with technologies like Node.js, Java, relational (Postgres, MySQL), and non-relational (MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases.
  7. Integrate customer experience management platforms like Sprinklr & drive real-time improvements to journeys.
  8. Own, execute, and deliver business outcomes for digital channels like Web, App, Chatbots.
  9. Establish robust application support models ensuring 24x7 operational excellence, rapid incident recovery, and proactive service quality.
  10. Lead Talent Councils for talent management, skills inventories & succession planning.
  11. Encourage a strong innovation engine, supporting open-source contributions & participation in industry tech forums.
