Head of Resuscitation Services

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education, the Head of Resuscitation will lead the Resuscitation Services team to deliver the Trust's resuscitation policy in alignment with Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and the Core Skills Training Framework This senior role involves setting performance targets, providing strategic leadership, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks for workforce needs.
The post holder will serve as the primary link between the Resuscitation Team, Clinical Site Practitioners, Hospital at Night team, Clinical Simulation Centre, Heads of Education, and external partners. They will represent GOSH at national and international forums and contribute to advancing thought leadership in the resuscitation field.
In collaboration with Medical Leads for Resuscitation, the post holder will develop and execute a pan-Trust Resuscitation Policy tailored to diverse clinical environments and staff groups. They will also drive the implementation of an operational plan integrating innovative technologies with evidence-based practices to enhance paediatric education and training.
This role demands autonomous leadership with a focus on delivering high-quality resuscitation education and training that supports GOSH's strategic objectives and fosters workforce excellence.
+ Serve as expert resource when attending resuscitation and clinical emergencies (paediatric and adult, + Demonstrate update to date knowledge about healthcare issues relating to babies, children and young people at local and national levels
+ Design, deliver, and monitor Trust-wide resuscitation education programmes-including mandatory and role-specific training-aligned with Resuscitation Council UK and ALSG standards (e.g., EPLS, APLS, GIC).
+ Standardise content across basic to advanced life support and deteriorating patient management, lead instructor development (e.g., BLS), and ensure programmes are responsive to curriculum requirements, incident learning, and RECALLS reviews.
+ Provide leadership with the Medical Leads for Resuscitation for multi-professional resuscitation education and training within the Trust.
+ Partner with the Director of Education on strategic and operational leadership
+ Oversee education, training, and audit for the Clinical Emergency Team and advanced resuscitation courses.
+ Collaborate on research, performance management, and learning from patient safety events.
+ Contribute to national paediatric training discussions and disseminate updates in resuscitation practices.
+ Undertake and support research projects for publication in professional journals or presentations at national and international conferences within the scope of practice. Lead on quality assurance, reporting quarterly to key committees. Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards, including NCAA benchmarking.
